Perks of a Pet Sitter We live in a busy society. More people, especially women, are working and vacationing. This doesn't stop people from wanting to have pets though. Some are even choosing pets over children. It isn't easy to ask a neighbor or even a friend to watch a pet while on vacation. Most people today don't even know their neighbors, and they don't want to burden their friends or family because they are just as busy. Some put their pets in a kennel while they are gone, but not without feeling guilty. What is the answer?
Pet sitting is becoming a more common practice. Why? Here are some of the benefits:
- Animals are creatures of habit as much as humans. With a pet sitter, your pet can stay in its own environment. That's right, we come to your house. This way pets are able to follow their normal eating, sleeping, and exercise habits, which contributes to the overall well-being of the pets.
- Exposure to illness is greatly reduced by not being in a kennel.
- An added benefit is that pet sitters can also keep an eye on your home, reducing the likelihood of crime. Your house will look inhabited while you are away.
- Most pet sitters will do other requested tasks while you are away such as water plants, open and close drapes/blinds as necessary, bring in mail and newspapers, take out garbage, etc.
- In the event your pet should become ill while you are gone, pet sitters can take your pet to its commonly used veterinarian.
Many people are concerned about letting a stranger into their home while they are gone. This is a valid concern. - Most pet sitters will do free initial consultations before you leave town. This way the pet sitter and client are able to meet to see if it is a good match. More importantly, the pet sitter and the pet are able to meet for this reason.
- A well-established pet sitter will be bonded and insured for the safety and peace of mind of both parties.
